About the Role

The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is seeking a Youth Worker. The Youth Worker will also be responsible for providing support, guidance, and mentorship to young individuals, fostering their personal and social development. This role involves creating and implementing programs and facilitating a safe and inclusive environment for youth to thrive.

Located at: 10507-98 Ave Grande Prairie

Reports to: Youth Program Coordinator

Position Details: Part-Time (28 hours/week)

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Human Services experience

  • At minimum 2-year’s experience working with youth

  • Capacity to work with diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Capacity to work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers

  • Passionate about working with youth and making a positive impact in their lives.

  • Strong knowledge of the Indigenous culture

  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.

  • Cleared criminal record and child intervention checks.

  • Class 5 drivers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging programs and promote personal growth, skill development and social interactions.

  • Work collaboratively with other programs at the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre

  • Advocate the needs and rights of young people within the organization and community.

  • Ensure implementation of policies, procedures of the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre

  • Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure the project activities and goals are met.

  • Develop and facilitate activities as required within the project mandate.

  • Build positive relationships with parents, schools, community, and other organizations.

  • Respond promptly to crisis situations and provide appropriate intervention and support.
