The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre has been empowering, engaging, and celebrating leaders across the Indigenous communities of our region for close to six decades. The Centre has been a constant force of both activism and guidance, bringing both fixed programs and countless new Initiatives to help meet the ambitious goal of ensuring the complete needs of Indigenous residents in both urban
and traditional environments while inspiring understanding, awareness, and wisdom
in the face of cultural differences.
GRANDE GATHERING GALA
The Grande Gathering Gala has once again been lifted up by the community. The 2nd Annual Grande Gathering Gathering took place on June 17th, 2023. The aim of this local, community-centered event, which is the primary fundraiser for the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, is to raise money in order to support the Centre’s continued provision and expansion of its programming and services.
With a small but mighty group of volunteers, the Grande Gathering Gala is proof that a grass-roots initiative truly has the power to change lives. The amount raised this year in 2023 totals over $160,000.
Your support through this initiative means we can continue to provide over 7,000 meals a month, provide connections and resources to young families, promote culture-centred education, prevent housing loss, promote positive health outcomes, and most of all, do what we do best: support our community by keeping the needs and gifts of our Indigenous communities front and Centre.
It is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate how far we have come
and stand with one another as we take a step forward on this journey to reconciliation.
