Miyo Waskawîwin — Indigenous Sports Program
Move, connect, and celebrate culture with us!
The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre’s Indigenous Sports Program, Miyo Waskawîwin, brings people together through physical activity, recreation, and cultural connection. Our program creates welcoming opportunities to try new activities, build confidence, develop skills, and enjoy time with community.
Activities may include Indigenous games, jigging, powwow practice, lacrosse, walking and running, and family outings. Whether you’re learning something new or returning to an activity you love, there’s a place for you.
All ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to participate! Check our monthly calendar for activities, locations, times, and any event-specific age requirements on our Facebook Group.
Native Trust Bursary — Applications Open!
The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre’s Native Trust Bursary supports Indigenous learners on their educational journeys. Apply for financial assistance and recognition of your hard work, culture, and community commitment.
Applicants must:
• Be of First Nation, Métis, or Inuit ancestry
• Demonstrate financial need
• Be registered and enrolled in a recognized educational institution
• Demonstrate a connection to Grande Prairie and area

Evening with the Mayor
The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre invites our members and the community to join us for an Evening with the Mayor—an evening of good food, meaningful conversation and community connection.
This gathering will provide an opportunity to hear updates, ask questions and participate in an open dialogue about the topics that matter to our community.
