The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre offers a range of culturally rooted programs to support individuals and families in Grande Prairie and surrounding area. Our team is here to walk with you on your journey—always grounded in culture, respect, and community.

Aboriginal Head Start

A culturally enriching early childhood program that supports the healthy development of Indigenous children through education, nutrition, health, and family involvement, rooted in Indigenous languages and traditions.

Aniskomohcikan

Aniskomohcikan is an Indigenous elders program. We are here to address the complex & diverse needs of elders in the community by helping to navigate housing supports, food security, income, and social supports to sustain a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Babies' Best Start

A supportive program for expectant and new parents, offering guidance, resources, and connection from pregnancy through the early months of a child’s life. Focused on healthy development, parenting support, and building strong family bonds.

Community Kitchen

A welcoming space where community members come together to share meals and build connections. The program promotes healthy eating and social support in a friendly, inclusive environment.

Grande Gathering Gala

The 5th annual Grande Gathering Gala will be held on April 11, 2026.  We are excited to bring our community together again to help raise funds for the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre and to celebrate Indigenous culture and strength.

Kiwewin

The Kiwewin program can support you in finding stability and moving forward. We can advocate with your landlord to help prevent eviction, connect you to community services to maintain your current housing, and assist in finding more affordable or suitable options.

Northern Indigenous Health Alliance

The Northern Indigenous Health Alliance (NIHA) is a collaborative initiative aimed at reducing the risk of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) among Indigenous communities in northern Alberta.

On-Campus Friendship Centre

The On-Campus Friendship Centre at Northwestern Polytechnic is a collaborative dedicated to supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous students alike. This welcoming space fosters community, cultural connection, and personal growth within the academic environment.

Kikinaw Outreach

Kikiaw Outreach offers help with basic needs, emotional and personal support, system navigation and advocacy, as well as access to cultural and educational opportunities. We connect individuals to housing and health services, provide harm reduction supplies, and ensure all support is grounded in Indigenous culture and community care.

Peyakoskan Podcast

The Peyakôskân Podcast Initiative brings together high school students and post-secondary students from diverse cultures and backgrounds to learn the art of podcasting, collaboration and the power of storytelling to address complex social issues such as Truth & Reconciliation language revitalization, and discrimination.

Pikiskwetan

Our Mental Health Navigator offers in-person, one-on-one support, cultural programming, and peer support groups in a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can openly share their experiences. 

Pitone

The Pitone Youth Group is a program for all youth ages 12 to 17 years old. The Awasis youth group is a program for youth ages 6-11 years old. These groups are open to any youth who are currently registered members of the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre.
