Cook/Janitor

This is a part time position, averaging 25 hours per week from September 9th 2024, to June 2025.
The successful candidate is responsible for helping with menu planning and daily preparation of nutritious lunches and snacks served to children ages 3 to 5 years. The cook will be required to manage the kitchen in strict compliance with Alberta Health Services and GPFC Aboriginal Head Start standards and take care of basic janitorial duties.

Qualifications:

Experienced with menu planning and cooking for a group setting

Adhering to a budget
-
Valid Food Handling certification/training
-
First Aid Certificate
-
Cleared and current Criminal Record Check (CRIM) and Child Youth Intervention Check (CYIM)
-
Able to take direction and adapt to a fast-paced environment
-
Comfortable working with caregivers in a kitchen setting and sharing space
-
Warm and empathetic attitude towards children and families
-
Effective time management skills
-
Able to do regular grocery shopping – vehicle required

Knowledge of the Indigenous culture related to food/recipes and/or teachings would be an asset
-
Background and/or education in Early Learning and Child Care would be an asset​
