Cook/Janitor

Grande Prairie, AB, Canada​

This is a part time position, averaging 24 hours per week.

 

The successful candidate is responsible for helping with menu planning and daily preparation of nutritious lunches and snacks served to children ages 3 to 5 years. The cook will be required to manage the kitchen in strict compliance with Alberta Health Services and GPFC Aboriginal Head Start standards and take care of basic janitorial duties.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced with menu planning and cooking for a group setting

  • Adhering to a budget

  • Valid Food Handling certification/training

  • First Aid Certificate

  • Cleared and current Criminal Record Check (CRIM) and Child Youth Intervention Check (CYIM)

  • Able to take direction and adapt to a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable working with caregivers in a kitchen setting and sharing space

  • Warm and empathetic attitude towards children and families 

  • Effective time management skills

  • Able to do regular grocery shopping – vehicle required

  • Knowledge of the Indigenous culture related to food/recipes and/or teachings would be an asset

  • Background and/or education in Early Learning and Child Care would be an asset​
