The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is seeking a Youth Worker. The role involves planning, organizing activities, and building relationship with elders and tri-school districts, and ensuring the overall success of the youth program.
Reports to: Youth Program Coordinator
Position Details: Part-time (28 hours/week)

Qualifications and Requirements
-
Human Services experience
-
At minimum 2-years experience working with youth
-
Capacity to work with diverse cultural backgrounds
-
Capacity to work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
-
Strong knowledge of the Indigenous culture
-
Ability to work independently
-
Problem-solving skills
-
Demonstrates a non-judgmental attitude

Resourceful
-
Knowledge with Podcasts
-
Proficient in oral and written communication
-
Ability to do presentations aimed for youth
-
Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings
-
Cleared criminal record and child intervention checks
-
Class 5 drivers
Responsibilities
-
Develop and design age-appropriate programs and activities for youth participants
-
Work in partnership with the tri-school district and community organizations
-
Work collaboratively with other programs at the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre
-
Develop and maintain awareness of services and programs for youth where appropriate
-
Ensure implementation of policies, procedures of the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre
-
Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure the project activities and goals are met
-
Develop and facilitate activities as required within the project mandate
-
Supporting Elders and Knowledge Keepers in programming and meet with them to plan activities within each school district
-
Ensure material is ready for each class
-
Follow a workplan as set out by supervisor
