Contract Student Gardener Position

9-week term @ 30 hours per week (2 available positions-staggered start and end dates)

 

Qualifications:

To apply for this job, you must:

· Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job

· Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and

· Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

· 18+ year old individuals require a 3-month current and clear Criminal Record Check and Children & Youth Intervention check

· 16 + Class 5 license with reliable transportation is an asset

· Excellent communication skills

· Strong organizational skills

· Ability to lift to 50 lbs

· Ability to work independently or in a team environment

· Standard First Aid with CPR is an asset

· Understanding of botany is an asset

· Understanding of Indigenous Culture is an asset

Responsibilities:

 

· The position will be under the supervisor of the Garden Committee Chair

· The Gardener(s) will be responsible for the daily care of the Traditional Garden and follow daily task list and lawn maintenance of the grounds.

· The Gardener(s) may be required to dig, move, lift, and build items in relation to the Traditional Healing Garden.

· The Gardener will assist with additional tasks such as assisting with community events, traditional medicine picking, and oversee volunteers.
