Safety and Resource Support Worker, One Window Resource

About the Role

The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is seeking a full-time Safety and Resource Support Worker from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday to Friday, with a possibility of occasional weekend or evening shifts. The Safety and Resource Support Worker will be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures of safety and maintenance. The Safety and Resource Worker will perform a variety of tasks as requested by the supervisor. We ask that the applicant have knowledge about the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre and One Window Resource Program, as well as other programming offered within the Centre.

Reports to: One Window Resource Coordinator

Position Details: Full-Time

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Human Resources Diploma or equivalent experience

  • Clear Criminal Record check (Current within the last 3 months)

  • Clear Current Child and Youth Intervention (Current within the last 3 months)

  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle

  • Certified in Standard First Aid

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and/or training related to de-escalation

  • Naloxone Training

  • Must have a personal cell phone in good working order

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Follow complex instruction

  • Be proficient with technology/computer skills

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills

  • Be in good health

  • Be flexible in job duties

  • Work as a team within your program and with other programs within the organization

  • Work independently

  • Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel and visitors on and around the premise

  • Must be able to establish good and trusting relationships with clients

  • Light janitorial work

  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt well to changing environments

  • Must have a positive attitude and be willing to advocate and provide referrals for our clientele

  • Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Must be willing to debrief after stressful situations

  • Must have a basic understanding of Indigenous Culture & Traditions

  • Clear and concise communication

  • Attention to detail

  • Physically able to walk and stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Critical thinking abilities – The ability to examine the possibility of a crisis and to act immediately

  • Problem solving skills

  • Teamwork
